About us

Our Story: Welcome to Rare Aquatics
Welcome to Rare Aquatics, a premier private breeding farm nestled in sunny Central Florida. Operated under Florida Aquatic Services LLC, our mission is simple: to breed, raise, and deliver healthy, vibrant, and hardy freshwater fish directly to your doorstep.
The Home-Grown Advantage
If you are tired of the fragile, mass-imported livestock found in big-box pet stores, you are in the right place. At Rare Aquatics, we believe that the healthiest fish are those raised with patience, care, and strict biosecurity. Because our farm is located in Central Florida—the capital of the tropical fish farming industry—our livestock benefits from ideal climate conditions and dedicated, hands-on attention.
We are not wholesalers or trans-shippers; we are passionate breeders. Every single fish we ship is raised right here on our farm, meaning they are fully acclimated to aquarium conditions, tank-hardy, and feeding aggressively before they ever leave our water.
Our Specialties & Premium Lines
We focus our expertise on lines we love, selecting for vibrant coloration, pristine genetics, and robust body shapes:
  • Premium Livebearers: We raise an incredible selection of over 15 distinct varieties of guppies and striking swordtails—including the highly sought-after, red-and-white Albino Kohaku Swordtails. We also maintain a curated selection of beautiful platies to round out your livebearer colonies.
  • Specialty Bristlenose Plecos: Our pleco breeding program features an impressive array of options to fit any tank style. We breed Standard, Albino, and Blue Eye Lemon bristlenose plecos in both short-fin and long-fin varieties. Additionally, we offer gorgeous Super Red and Snow White plecos in the short-fin variety.
  • Dwarf Cichlids: For aquarists looking for a splash of personality and color, we raise a healthy collection of choice dwarf cichlid species.
Healthy Fish, Safely Shipped
We understand that ordering live animals online can feel risky. That is why we treat shipping as an art form. Every order is packed using custom-fit styrofoam insulation, heavy-duty double bagging, pure oxygen, and seasonal climate packs tailored to your local weather. Backed by our ironclad Live Arrival Guarantee, you can order with absolute peace of mind.
Whether you are looking to start a new breeding colony, add a show-stopping center-piece fish to your layout, or fill out a vibrant community tank, we are honored to help you succeed.
